Flu Information 2020/21
Flu clinics this year will be run on an appointment only basis.
These will be available to book online, via text message or by emailing us or phoning us at the surgery
To book a slot online you will need to be signed up to Patient Access (ask at reception if you are not already signed up for this)
We will be sending out text messages in mid-August and all you will need to do is reply to our message with a preferred date and time for your slot. You will then receive another text with the date and time of your appointment.
If you email us at firstname.lastname@example.org please provide us with your preferred choice of date and approximate time we will reply by the same method with an appointment date and time.
You will also be able to phone us at the surgery to book a slot but we would encourage you to use the above methods first if possible.
We will not be able to offer you a flu vaccination during routine clinic reviews and will only be offering them at the pre-set clinics at this stage. We may review this in late November.
If you are housebound we will be contacting you to arrange to visit to give you your flu vaccination.
The clinics will be available for booking 2 weeks prior to the relevant clinic date – please do not try to pre-book before this
It will be most important that patients who aren’t eligible for a flu vaccine do not request one. The appointment book will be carefully checked prior to the date and anyone who is not eligible will have their slot cancelled. We cannot make any exceptions to this rule.
The first few clinics will be for the over 65’s only as we will not have any stock for the under 65’s until the beginning of October.
Each appointment is for one person only and families will not be able to go in together unless they are carers Patients will be asked to only enter the building at their appointment slot time and not before and to be fully prepared with their arm bared if possible. Face coverings must also be worn. Any patient turning up early must wait in their car

Most asthmatics are NOT included in the at risk group unless they are on high dose steroids.
NHSE have not yet released any information regarding the Covid over 50’s flu plan. Our flu stock is not be used for this cohort and stock for this is likely to be NHSE centralised stock. We therefore will not be offering the flu vaccine to any over 50’s in these set clinics unless they fit one of the above criteria. Again there will be no exception to this rule.
Children aged 2 years to 4 years will be contacted separately to arrange a flu vaccination – please do Not book them into any of the above clinics ( Under 5’s do not need to wear a face covering)
There will be a one way system in operation during these clinics and social distancing rules will apply. Face coverings must be worn during your time in the building. If you do not have a face covering unfortunately you will be turned away and asked to rebook an appointment slot at another time.
If you cannot attend your appointment, please remember to cancel it to allow us to offer it to another patient.
