Routine book in advance appointments are pre-bookable up to two weeks in advance and are designed for routine GP reviews. Should you require advice or treatment for more than one problem, please ask for a longer appointment.
Appointments should be made on an individual basis therefore please let us know if more than one person in your family needs to be seen.
Nurse appointments - Our nurses are able to treat a variety of ailments and it is often the case that an appointment with the nurse will not only be more appropriate but may also be available sooner than an appointment with a doctor. Nurse’s appointments are pre-bookable up to four weeks in advance.
Blood clinics - If you need a blood tests, these clinics run on a Tusday and Friday morning only. You will need an appointment slot to attend. These clinics are for bloods only 0
Daily Walk-in Clinics
WALK IN CLINICS HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED DUE TO THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK
If you find yourself with an acute problem requiring immediate medical attention you can attend our daily walk-in clinic. Instead of telephoning the surgery at 08:00 to try to obtain an appointment you can attend the surgery between 08:30 and 10:30 to add your name to the clinic list and wait to see the allocated GP.
Acute, appropriate problems include urine infections, chest infections, sore throat, ear ache, acute/new problem, rashes, pain/infection.
Inappropriate problems include ongoing problems, repeat prescriptions, sick notes, referral queries, more than one problem, medication queries, results.
We hope that the walk in system will free up pre-bookable appointments giving patients a wider variety of choice to attend the surgery with routine problems. Patients who currently struggle to get an appointment when they find themselves acutely poorly will have the opportunity to see a doctor and be treated on the same day.
If you attend the clinic with an inappropriate problem you will be asked to make an alternative appointment.
If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.
If you require a chaperone during your appointment please let us know and we can arrange for someone to accompany you during an examination or private discussion.
Late For Your Appointment
Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.
Please note all home visits will be triaged via telephone initially during the Covid 19 outbreak. Please DO NOT request a home visit if you are displaying any symptoms of the Covid virus.
If you require a visit from a doctor you must contact the reception staff before 11:00 on the same day to make the request.
Home visits are reserved for patients who are unable to attend the surgery to see a doctor due to medical or physical circumstances. Lack of transport is not an acceptable reason for requesting the Doctor to visit.
Receptionists have had training to assess emergencies and may give you advice on the telephone if appropriate to ensure the best care is received. Your details will be recorded in the Visit Book for the doctor to review after morning surgery.
The visits are usually batched into geographic area and take into account other commitments individual doctors may have. It is unlikely that the reception staff will be able to advise which doctor will undertake your home visit and give an exact visit time allocation however the visiting doctor may call ahead before the visit.
Any requests made after 11:00 will be assessed by the on call doctor. Based on individual circumstances, a visit may be carried out that same day or the following weekday.
Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
We are pleased to be able to offer our patients access to routine appointments in the evenings and weekends.
The new service is part of an extended access service which has been commissioned by NHS Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group.
The appointments will also be available on bank holidays including across Easter, Christmas and New Year periods.
Extended hours appointments are for pre-bookable non-urgent appointments.
The service is being delivered by Cleveland Surgery on behalf of all of the practices in the area. If a patient wishes to attend an extended hours appointment they will need to travel to Cleveland Surgery and will NOT see their own GP.
Appointments are available between 18:30 and 20:00 Monday - Friday, 10:00 to 12:00 noon Saturdays and 10:00 to 11:30 on Sundays.
